 | SNEAK PEEK |
Over the next few weeks I'll be presenting some of the songs to listen out for in the Eurovision selections which will be running until the middle of March. Given bandwidth limits I'm only leaving the soundfiles online for a limited period, but please come back regularly to hear other
potential Eurovision songs.

ICH TROJE feat.THE REAL McCOY |
|
|
"Follow My Heart" |
|
The group Ich Troje are no strangers to Eurovision fans. Back in 2003 their bilingual song "Keine Grenzen – żadnych Granic" (No Borders) gave Poland one of its best ever Eurovision results, finishing 7th in Riga, after a very
memorable live performance. Three years on and the trio are back. Their new song "Follow My Heart" which competes in the Polish final on January 28th is very different from their previous entry, having a much more up-tempo pop sound. The reason for the change is probably down to the involvement of German dance producer Olaf
Jeglitza a.k.a. The Real McCoy who enjoyed a couple of massive dance hits in the mid 1990's ("Another Night" reached #2 in the U.K. charts in 1994) who will be supporting Ich Troje in the Polish final. Given their previous success and popularity in Poland, "Follow My Heart" must have a good chance of getting to
Athens. More information on Ich Troje here and The Real McCoy here.

DANZEL |
|
"Undercover" |
|
In a very competitive Polish final, Ich Troje will find themselves up against Danzel (aka Johan Waem). Although he is competing in the Polish final, Danzel hails from Belgium and he first found fame in 2003 through the "Idols" television show. Although he didn't win, he managed to gain a big following
thanks to his singing and lively dance routines. In 2004 his song "Pump It Up" started to gain attention in European clubs and soon took off in the sales charts reaching the Top 20 in almost every European country including both Ireland and the U.K., with the video becoming a mainstay on MTV. Danzel has always been a big
Eurovision fan, and his record company suggested that he should try to compete in Athens. As Danzel apparently loves Poland, where he remains popular, he decided to enter their Eurovision selection, rather that his home selection in Belgium. His song "Undercover" is typical of his "techno-lite" dance style. More
information on Danzel here.

AMBERLIFE |
|
|
"Day Or Night" |
|
One of the strangest stories in this year's Eurovision preselection revolves around Lithuanian singer and songwriter Amberlife. Late last year he announced his intention of entering the Latvian Eurovision selection. In December it was announced that he would be performing in the second Latvian semi-final on February
11th. It has now been announced that Amberlife will also compete in the Lithuanian semi-finals, and with the same song "Day Or Night". Should the song manage to win both qualifications (and that cannot be ruled out, given his local popularity), Amerlife has stated that he will represent his native Lithuania, but given this
rather strange scenario, don't be surprised if the EBU puts something into the rules, forbidding this kind of thing from happening again. More information on Amberlife here.
